Binkady-Emmanuel Hié Visits WIS

WIS Welcomes Binkady-Emmanuel Hié to Both Campuses

From November 8-13, we were thrilled to welcome Binkady-Emmanuel Hié to WIS all the way from Paris! Binkady is the co-author of the book VISIBLES! Black Figures in the History of France, which delves into the rich and often overlooked contributions of Black personalities in the French national narrative. In 2021, he founded NORME, a communications agency that helps organizations reflect on racial issues, represents artists with symbolic careers like principal ballet dancer Guillaume Diop, and develops creative projects on the theme of black presence in France.

Our French-speaking faculty on both campuses had the opportunity to meet with Binkady in a professional development setting, where he discussed Black representation within the curriculum and being more intentional when talking about Black voices in the French language.

Binkady also presented at both Middle and Upper School assemblies, where he focused on the work that he has done in the last several years on Black representation and artistic integrity in French arts and culture.
