Destination WIS

WIS's master planning exercise concludes that the School's long-term ability to deliver a world-class STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) curriculum requires upgrading facilities on the Tregaron Campus.

Design of the Phase I science-centric facility is completed, and WIS begins to work through the regulatory process to secure Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) approval. WIS secures $10 million in commitments during Phase I.

Suzanna Jemsby begins her tenure as WIS's Head of School shortly after the School receives a final decision from regulators, rejecting the Phase I design due to massing and location.

WIS restarts the design/regulatory process in partnership with Shalom Baranes Associates. Guided by lessons learned in Phase I, Phase II progresses quickly, with a new design and location for the science-centric facility.

The Board of Trustees approves the School's 2020 Strategic Plan, reconfirming the need for the new facility.

The Phase II design is submitted to the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), eventually winning approval in 2020. The quiet phase of Destination WIS begins in 2021.

By summer 2022 WIS receives written approval from the Board of Zoning Adjustment, clearing the way for construction to begin.

Construction begins in earnest when the Dacha is relocated in March 2023 and site excavation begins in June. The projected construction completion date is spring 2025.

The public phase of Destination WIS begins; it is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2026.
